In 2025, the Barocco Line returns — the tourist railway service connecting Siracusa to Donnafugata through some of the most charming towns of the Val di Noto. Starting from April 25, this route offers a unique opportunity to explore the heart of Baroque Sicily in a comfortable and sustainable way.
The train departs from Siracusa and stops at Fontane Bianche, Avola, Noto, Pozzallo, Scicli, Modica, and Ragusa, before reaching its final destination at Donnafugata Castle. Travelers cross scenic countryside, helical tunnels, and historic city centers recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The ticket remains valid for four hours after validation, allowing passengers to hop on and off the train and explore multiple locations in the same direction.
Operating on holidays with trains running approximately every two hours, the Barocco Line offers flexibility for day-trippers and tourists alike. Visitors can enjoy a walk through Modica’s old town, taste its world-famous chocolate, and then continue their journey by rail.
Tickets are available on the official Trenitalia website, through the mobile app, or at self-service machines in train stations. Onboard purchases are also allowed when stations lack ticket machines, provided travelers inform the conductor upon boarding.
The Barocco Line encourages slow travel and eco-tourism. Passengers can bring bicycles onboard free of charge. Additionally, presenting a Barocco Line train ticket at the Donnafugata Castle entrance grants a 50% discount on admission.
This travel experience is ideal for both international visitors and locals who wish to rediscover the cultural and architectural treasures of southeastern Sicily. Barocco Line 2025 combines heritage, landscape, and sustainable mobility in a single unforgettable journey.
