“JOGGING – Theatre in Progress” comes to Noto with Hanane Hajj Ali

Three events exploring art, identity, and civil engagement

A body running to survive. A woman interpreting herself, her fears, and her hopes. A bare stage where an intense and visceral story unfolds. Thanks to the support of Noto Days, the theatrical project “JOGGING – Theatre in Progress” arrives in Noto, written and performed by Hanane Hajj Ali, one of the most powerful voices in contemporary Lebanese theatre.

Three stops on a journey through personal and collective memory:

📍 June 14, 6:00 PM – PresentationGalleria d’Arte Piano Alto, Piazza Mazzini

📍 June 21, 6:00 PM – Conversation with Hanane Hajj AliTeatro Khaelsa, Testa dell’Acqua

📍 June 22, 9:00 PM – PerformanceTeatro Comunale Tina Di Lorenzo

Through the metaphor of daily jogging through the streets of Beirut, Hanane — woman, actress, wife, and mother — faces the ghosts of the past and the contradictions of the present. Jogging becomes a ritual, a salvific gesture, as the stage is inhabited by Medea, the tragic figure who fascinates and disturbs her at once:“Who is Medea? Is it me? Is it you? Is it Beirut? Is it this mad world that’s becoming even madder?”

The performance is a continuous flow of words, emotions, memories, and questions, driven by the opposing forces of dopamine and adrenaline. A theatre in progress that becomes political act, testimony, and confession.

A cultural initiative by Fondazione Teatro Tina Di Lorenzo, in collaboration with many local partners and with the support of Noto Days, committed to enriching the city’s cultural landscape through high-value events.
